Pat Nevin hails ‘incredible’ Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi
Pat Nevin heaps praise on Michy Batshuayi following the Chelsea striker's strong start to the season
Pat Nevin has singled out Michy Batshuayi for special praise following his solid start to the new season with Chelsea.
The Belgian forward has impressed whenever called upon by Antonio Conte this season as he looks to prove himself as worthy of a regular first team spot this season.
Batshuayi struggled to make much of an impact last season after he joined the west London club from French side Marseille in the summer of 2016.
However, he did score the all-important goal which clinched Chelsea the title with a 1-0 victory at West Brom back in May.
Batshuayi has been in fine form in the Champions League and League Cup this season, with the 23-year-old having scored four goals in two starts in those competitions.
And former Chelsea winger Nevin has been impressed by Batshuayi’s eye for goal this season.
Writing in his column for Chelsea’s website, Nevin said: “Michy has an incredible knack of putting the ball in the net when there is a goal in the vague vicinity, even if some of his play isn’t as pleasing on the eye as Alvaro’s.
“But then which centre-forward is as pleasant to watch as the former Real Madrid man?”
Batshuayi will be hoping to feature for Chelsea when the Blues take on Atletico Madrid in the Champions League in Spain on Wednesday night.
The Blues then return to Premier League action on Saturday with a crunch clash against Manchester City at Stamford Bridge, knowing that a win would move them level on points with Pep Guardiola’s men.
