The Blues midfielder returned to the King Power Stadium for the second time since moving to Chelsea in a £30m deal from Leicester City back in the 2016 summer transfer window.
Kante has won the Premier League title in the past two seasons with Leicester and Chelsea, while the defensive midfielder won the PFA player of the year award back in April.
The 26-year-old midfielder scored two goals in 45 appearances in all competitions last season after netting against Manchester United in both the Premier League and the FA Cup.
Kante opened his Premier League account for the 2017-18 season with the opening goal in Chelsea’s 2-1 victory over Leicester.
The Blues midfielder admitted that it was a special day to score against his former employers and help the defending champions record a third successive Premier League win.
“‘It is always special to play against my old team,” Kante told Chelsea’s website.
“Everyone knows I spent an amazing year here but when I come I try to win. This was an important win for my team and I was happy to score.”
Chelsea won the Premier League title with two games to spare last season after the west London side finished seven points clear of Tottenham Hotspur.
The west London side have signed seven players in the summer transfer window to help improve their squad ahead of a return to the Champions League.
