Pat Nevin sends stern warning to Chelsea about title rival
The Blues legend believes Chelsea will have to catch Manchester City to win the Premier League title this term
Pat Nevin has warned Antonio Conte that Chelsea still have to make improvements to match Manchester City this season.
The Blues have bounced back from a difficult start to the Premier League campaign with three successive victories.
The defending champions suffered a surprise 3-2 loss to Burnley in their opening Premier League game of the new campaign.
However, the west London side bounced back with a 2-1 win against title rivals Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley last month..
Chelsea have eased to comfortable wins against Everton and Leicester City in their last two games to move to within a point of Manchester City in second place.
The Citizens were outstanding 5-0 winners against 10-man Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium last weekend to lay down a marker in the title race.
Former Chelsea winger Nevin believes Conte still has work to do to get his Blues team to the same level as Manchester City this season.
“There not absolutely brilliant yet,” Nevin told Irish radio station Newstalk.
“They’re not close to Man City in quality yet.”
Chelsea signed Manchester City goalkeeper Willy Caballero, AS Roma defender Antonio Rudder, Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko, Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata, Leicester City star Danny Drinkwater and Torino full-back Davide Zappacosta this summer.
