N’Golo Kante has revealed that he often forgets that he was crowned as the PFA player of the year last season as he focuses on improving his game with Chelsea.

The French midfielder has earned plenty of new admirers since he burst onto the scene at Leicester City and helped them to win the Premier League title in the 2015-16 campaign.

Kante then moved to Chelsea last summer and helped the west London club to win the Premier League in Antonio Conte’s first campaign in charge at Stamford Bridge.

The midfielder earned huge amounts of praise for his performances for the west London side as he was crowned as the PFA player of the year.

However, the player himself says that he is paying no attention to the individual accolades that have come his way and instead insists that he is focused on collective success with the Blues.

Kante told the Daily Express: “We forget that we need to keep improving.

“Last season was amazing for me and the club but that was the past and we need to focus on the future.

“I don’t feel like the player of the year. I don’t really care about it when I am on the pitch. I try to improve in training, and give my best in the game.”

Chelsea are preparing to take on Arsenal at Stamford Bridge in their next Premier League game on Sunday afternoon.

The Blues head into the clash having thrashed Qarabag 6-0 in their Champions League group stage opener on Tuesday night.

Chelsea were beaten by Arsenal in the FA Cup final last season and also lost to the Gunners in the Community Shield last month.
