Antonio Conte singled out Charly Musonda for special praise after Chelsea’s impressive 5-1 win over Nottingham Forest booked the Blues’ place in the fourth round of the League Cup.

Eden Hazard made his first full start of the season for the west London side as he played the full 90 minutes in front of the Blues’ home fans at Stamford Bridge.

Kenedy opened the scoring in the 13th minute before Michy Batshuayi netted a hat-trick for Conte’s men as they ran riot to book their place in the next round of the competition.

Musonda also made his first start of the season for Chelsea and repaid his manager’s faith in him by scoring five minutes before half-time.

And Conte seems to be pleased with the development of the 20-year-old Musonda this season after his display on Wednesday night.

Conte told his post-match news conference at Stamford Bridge: “For sure, he’s a talented player. He has to continue to play and when there’s a chance to help us, he must do this.

“I hope this type of game improves the confidence. It’s important now to continue in this way.

Chelsea return to Premier League action on Saturday afternoon when they take on Stoke City at the bet365 Stadium.

The Blues are aiming to get back to winning ways in the top flight after their goalless draw with Arsenal last Sunday afternoon in west London.
