Steven Gerrard praises Antonio Conte's tactics after Chelsea's impressive 2-1 victory over Atletico Madrid

Steven Gerrard heaped praise on Antonio Conte after Chelsea’s thrilling 2-1 victory over Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
The Blues clinched a brilliant victory against the Spanish side as Conte’s men produced a quality display to make it two wins from two in their Champions League campaign.
Goals from Alvaro Morata and Michy Batshuayi in the second half clinched victory for the Blues after Antoine Griezmann had put Atletico ahead from the penalty spot in the first half.
Eden Hazard was in superb form and he linked up brilliantly with summer signing Morata as Chelsea dominated proceedings in Spain.
And former Liverpool captain Gerrard was full of praise for the tactical approach Chelsea took thanks to Conte after the game.
Speaking on BT Sport after the result, Gerrard said: “Going in with Hazard off Morata was a stroke of genius from Conte.
“I think it worked perfectly well to set them up for the counter-attack.
“They completely dominated a top team for 90 minutes and I think a draw would have been an unjust result.”
Chelsea now switch their attentions back towards Premier League affairs and their crunch clash against leaders Manchester City at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening.
The Blues head into the game knowing that a victory would move them level on points with Pep Guardiola’s men after seven matches of the new campaign.
Chelsea are currently third in the table after their 4-0 victory over Stoke City last weekend in the Premier League.
