Antonio Conte has confirmed that Eden Hazard will start Chelsea’s Carabao Cup clash against Nottingham Forest at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.

The Blues forward made his return from injury at Leicester City earlier this month after Hazard came off the bench to replace Cesc Fabregas with 10 minutes to play in their 2-1 win at the King Power Stadium.

Hazard was a second-half substitute in Chelsea’s 6-0 victory over Qarabag in their Champions League opener before the Belgian forward impressed in his cameo in a goalless draw with derby rivals Arsenal at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea will host Championship side Nottingham Forest in the third round of the League Cup in west London on Wednesday night as the Blues look to win the competition for the first time under Conte.

The Blues forward scored 16 times and made seven assists to help Chelsea to win the Premier League title in Conte’s first season in charge of the west London outfit.

Asked whether Hazard would line up for Chelsea against Nottingham Forest on Wednesday night, Conte told his pre-match media conference on Tuesday:

“Now is the right moment for Eden to start the game and try to play the whole game.

“I hope for him it is the final step from his injury. We have managed his situation very well. In my career I was injured a lot of times, and I have a bit of experience about this.

“Now he is ready to start the game.”

Chelsea won the Premier league title with two games to spare last term after finishing seven points ahead of Tottenham Hotspur.

The Blues won the EFL Cup in 2015 under Jose Mourinho.
