Paul Merson tells Chelsea to make this signing in January
The Arsenal legend wants to Chelsea sign another striker in the January transfer window

Paul Merson believes Chelsea will need to sign a new striker in the January transfer window.
The Blues have made a decent start to the new season despite a surprise 3-2 loss to Burnley at Stamford Bridge on the opening day of the 2017-18 campaign.
Chelsea signed Alvaro Morata in the summer transfer window and the £58m addition has already hit the ground running with three goals in four Premier League games.
The Spain international has been tasked with filling the goal void left by Diego Costa, who has been frozen out at Stamford Bridge despite helping the Blues to win the Premier League title last term.
Costa is being widely tipped to secure a return to Atletico Madrid in January, which would leave Chelsea short on back up for Morata after missing out on Spurs signing Fernando Llorente.
Former Arsenal midfielder Merson believes Chelsea will need to sign another striker in the next transfer window to ensure Conte has cover for Morata in the event of an injury.
“Roman Abramovich has flexed his muscles over Diego Costa – but Chelsea will need another striker if they are to do special things this season,” Merson told the Daily Star.
“You can’t challenge for the Premier League and Champions League with only one striker. I think they need to buy another striker in January because Costa is not coming back. He will end up at Atletico Madrid.”
Morata won two Serie A titles during his two-season stint at Juventus.
The Spanish forward was also part of the Real Madrid side that won La Liga and the Champions League last season.
