Danny Murphy states his prediction for Chelsea v Arsenal
Danny Murphy looks ahead to Chelsea's home clash with Arsenal in the Premier League on Saturday
Danny Murphy is backing Chelsea to beat Arsenal in Sunday’s crunch Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues head into the game looking to continue their recent good form, after having tied up victories against Tottenham, Everton and Leicester to move up into third place in the Premier League table.
Chelsea started the season with a surprise 3-2 loss to Burnley but have since bounced back and also got their Champions League campaign off to a flying start with a 6-0 thrashing of Qarabag on Tuesday night.
Arsenal, meanwhile, have made a mixed start to the new campaign and have won two and lost two of their opening four games.
The Gunners were thrashed 4-0 by Liverpool in their last away game and former Reds man Murphy is predicting more misery for Arsene Wenger’s men at Stamford Bridge this weekend.
Murphy told The Debate on Sky Sports: “They will be a bit wary going away again thinking ‘do we protect for a while?’ which I’ve never seen them do, or do they play their normal way and just try to outplay the opposition?
“Because tactically at Liverpool they didn’t have a plan, there were no tactics there, you can’t play the way the way they did and expect to win games anywhere in the Premier League.
“But Chelsea, with the players they’ve got, if they leave the spaces they did [against Liverpool] for Hazard, Pedro and Willian.
“They’ve [Arsenal] got quality, can they produce it against the big teams in the Premier League more often than not?
“No is the answer, if you look at the last three, four, five years.”
Arsenal were 3-1 winners over Cologne at The Emirates on Thursday night as they got their Europa League campaign off to a winning start.
The Gunners have beaten Chelsea in their last two clashes with the Blues, securing victories in both the FA Cup final and Community Shield.
However, Chelsea won the last Premier League meeting 3-1 last season.
