Alvaro Morata heaped praise on Eden Hazard after the Belgian’s sparkling display in Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

The 26-year-old Belgian made his first start of the season in the Champions League for the Blues and he produced an imperious display as Chelsea secured a thrilling victory.

Hazard set up Morata for his headed equaliser with a superb cross in the second half, before substitute Michy Batshuayi came off the bench to net a dramatic late winner for the Blues.

Morata has hit the ground running at Chelsea since his move from Real Madrid back in July, and the Spaniard is thrilled to be linking up with Hazard at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking to BT Sport, Morata said: “It’s easy to play with a player like Eden.

“He is one of the best in Europe and I am very lucky to play with Eden.

“I’m happy [with my form] but the most important thing is to win the games, win the three points always, as much as possible.”

Both Morata and Hazard will be hoping to link up once again when the Blues return to Premier League action on Saturday night with a crunch clash against Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues head into the game knowing that victory over Pep Guardiola’s men would move them level on points with the Citizens after seven matches.

Chelsea are aiming to defend the title they won in Antonio Conte’s first campaign in charge last season.
