Glenn Hoddle sends warning to Arsenal about Eden Hazard ahead of Chelsea clash
Glenn Hoddle says Eden Hazard doesn't need to be in top form to have a big influence on games
Glenn Hoddle has warned Arsenal that they will face a tough task in trying to keep Eden Hazard quiet when they take on Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.
The Belgian playmaker has recently made his return to action following a lengthy lay-off with an ankle injury after he had to undergo surgery at the start of the summer.
Hazard is widely regarded as one of the Premier League’s finest attacking talents and he helped Chelsea to win their second title in three seasons last term.
The 26-year-old has featured as a substitute in Chelsea’s last two games, and he looked particularly sharp in the second half of the Blues’ 6-0 thrashing of Qarabag at Stamford Bridge in the Champions League.
And Hoddle has warned Arsenal that Hazard does not need to be at his best to have a big say on proceedings at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
Speaking on BT Sport on Tuesday night, Hoddle said: “The thing about Hazard is that when he’s on form, he’s one of the best players in the world.
“But he doesn’t have to be on form to affect the game. He’s a top quality player and it’s good to see him back.”
Chelsea head into the game in third place in the Premier League table, after having won their last three top-flight games.
Arsenal, meanwhile, are three points behind the Blues after having returned to winning ways with a 3-0 victory over Bournemouth at The Emirates last weekend.
