Thibaut Courtois sends warning to Chelsea fans about Eden Hazard
Thibaut Courtois tells Chelsea fans not to expect too much from Eden Hazard too soon this season
Thibaut Courtois has warned Chelsea fans that it will take Eden Hazard some time to get back to form after his lengthy lay-off with an injury.
The Belgian playmaker has not featured for the west London side so far this season after having undergone ankle surgery at the start of the summer.
However, Hazard made his return to action for Belgium during the international break as he played a total of 93 minutes in his country’s most recent World Cup qualifiers.
It remains to be seen whether Hazard will feature from the start when Chelsea take on Leicester City in the Premier League at the King Power Stadium on Saturday.
However, Courtois believes that it will take the 26-year-old some time to regain full fitness as he bids to help Chelsea defend their Premier League title this season.
Courtois said in an interview with Sky Sports: “He is ready, he is doing well and is ready to play. But we cannot forget he was injured for four months, he had surgery.
“You cannot expect – if he plays on Saturday, which is up to the manager – if he gets minutes you will see his quality but maybe he is not at his top form like he was last season and you cannot forget that.
“You have to go little by little I think. We are excited to have him back and I was happy to have him on the pitch with me against Gibraltar and Greece.
“I hope we can see the best Eden Hazard very soon.”
Chelsea have won two of their opening three Premier League games as they look to try and defend their top-flight title this season.
