Charlie Nicholas has lavished praise on Eden Hazard, claiming that the Chelsea attacker is not far behind Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in terms of quality.

The 26-year-old has earned a reputation as one of Europe’s top attacking talents since arriving in the Premier League from Lille back in 2012.

Hazard has won two Premier League titles with Chelsea since his move to England and has developed into one of the most feared attackers in the top flight.

The playmaker has recently made his return to the first team with the Blues after having missed the first portion of the season with an ankle injury.

And former Arsenal man Nicholas believes that Hazard is up there with some of the best attacking players on the planet.

Speaking on Sky Sports News last week, Nicholas said: “He’s Chelsea’s best player. [Most] important?

“This little superstar can win a game in 30 seconds, he can wrap up games over a period of 20 minutes.

“You look at [N’Golo] Kante, you look at [Cesc] Fabregas who can make things. If you stop service to Hazard, you’re gonna keep Chelsea relatively quiet.

“I mean, Messi, Ronaldo, Hazard’s not far behind that for me. An absolute superstar.”

Hazard will be hoping to feature for Chelsea in the Champions League on Wednesday night when the Blues travel to Spain to take on Atletico Madrid.

The west London side are aiming to win their second-ever Champions League trophy this season after having lifted it for the first time in the season before Hazard joined the club in 2011-12.

Chelsea won the Premier League title in Antonio Conte’s first campaign at the club last season.
