Arsene Wenger has revealed that both Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Ozil will undergo late fitness tests ahead of Arsenal’s trip to Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday.

The midfield pair both sat out Arsenal’s Europa League win over Cologne in midweek as the Gunners warmed up for their Premier League clash by beating the German side 3-1 at The Emirates.

Arsenal now turn their attentions towards their crunch clash with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge as they look to get their Premier League campaign back on track.

And Wenger has confirmed that he will make a late decision on both Ozil and Ramsey before Sunday’s trip to west London.

Wenger told a news conference on Friday morning: “We have to see about Ozil and Ramsey. I think they should be alright. All the others could have played against Cologne.”

Wenger also expressed his delight at seeing Jack Wilshere make a return to competitive action for Arsenal after the midfielder came on in the second half of the victory over Cologne.

“Yes, it is good for him,” said Wenger. “You will see that it will give him more confidence and you could see that he still needs competition, Jack.”

The Arsenal boss also played down any fears of his squad not being fresh for the trip to Chelsea, despite having played late on Thursday night.

He added: “Yes, I believe in three days we can recover. Overall, that should not be a problem.”

Arsenal have won their last two meetings against Chelsea, in the FA Cup final and the Community Shield at Wembley.
