Jamie Carragher discusses where new Liverpool FC signing will fit in
Jamie Carragher ponders where Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will fit in at Liverpool FC after his move from Arsenal

Jamie Carragher has pondered where Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will fit in at Liverpool after he completed his transfer to Anfield from Arsenal on deadline day.
The 24-year-old became Liverpool’s fourth official signing of the summer transfer window as Arsenal agreed to sell the midfielder to their Premier League rivals.
The move came just days after Oxlade-Chamberlain lined up for Arsenal against Liverpool and failed to prevent the Gunners from slipping to a 4-0 loss to the Reds at Anfield.
One of the main reasons for Oxlade-Chamberlain’s move is thought to be his desire to play in a central midfield position for the Reds.
However, former Liverpool defender Carragher is not sure about how the former Southampton man will slot into Jurgen Klopp’s team at Anfield this season.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the move was confirmed, Carragher said: “I am sure he would have had conversations with Arsene Wenger about playing in central midfield, but maybe he thought he had better options. And his poor injury record does not help.
“But going forward, Liverpool’s midfield three were outstanding against Arsenal, while you also have Coutinho to come back, who was Liverpool’s best player last season, and Lallana, who was also outstanding.”
Oxlade-Chamberlain will be hoping to make his first appearance for Liverpool when the Reds return to Premier League action after the international break with a crunch clash against Manchester City at The Etihad.
The Reds, who finished fourth last season, have won two and drawn one of their opening three games to leave them in second place in the Premier League table behind high-flying Manchester United.
