Frank Lampard makes confident prediction about Liverpool FC
Frank Lampard discusses Liverpool FC's Champions League hopes after their 1-1 draw with Spartak Moscow
Frank Lampard is convinced that Liverpool will make it through their Champions League group despite their stuttering start to their European campaign.
The Reds were held to a 1-1 draw by Spartak Moscow on Tuesday night as they failed to pick up their first group stage win of the new campaign.
Liverpool were held to a 2-2 draw by Sevilla at home earlier this month in their group opener as Jurgen Klopp looks to steer his side into the last 16 of Europe’s elite club competition.
The Merseyside outfit will now play Maribor twice in their next two Champions League games as they look to pick up their first wins in the group stage.
And despite the Reds’ stuttering start, former Chelsea star Lampard is tipping Klopp’s men to take six points from their next two games and ultimately make it through to the knockout phase.
Speaking on BT Sport after Tuesday night’s game, Chelsea legend Lampard said: “They’ll beat Maribor twice. They’ll get through the group.
“The important thing is when they get through the group, they could face some big teams then they need to take their chances.”
Liverpool will now turn their attentions back towards Premier League affairs and their trip to Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon.
The Reds are currently in fifth place in the top flight table after their 3-2 win over Leicester City at the King Power Stadium last weekend.
