The Reds completed a surprise late deal to land the 24-year-old from Premier League rivals Arsenal last week on transfer deadline day after the Gunners agreed to sell the former Southampton man.
Liverpool fans will be hoping to see Oxlade-Chamberlain make his first appearance for the Reds when they take on Manchester City in the Premier League on Saturday lunchtime.
And Reds legend Barnes has admitted that he was pleased to see the Merseyside outfit complete a deal for Oxlade-Chamberlain last week.
Barnes told HITC Sport: “For Liverpool, I think he is a good signing because he is a Jurgen Klopp-type player.
“Jurgen Klopp likes players who play with high intensity, high energy. He can play in one of the three midfield positions. He likes players who are very direct, very strong, very quick, which is what he brings.
“He can also play in one of the wide positions in terms of where Mane or Salah plays. I think he is a typical Jurgen Klopp-type signing.”
Liverpool are currently second in the Premier League table after their 4-0 thrashing of Arsenal before the international break – a game that Oxlade-Chamberlain featured in.
The Reds are looking to challenge for the title this season after they ended up fourth in the table under Klopp last term.
