Jurgen Klopp has claimed that Liverpool’s recent slump in form is “easy to explain”.

The Reds were dumped out of the League Cup in the third round on Tuesday night after they suffered a 2-0 loss to Leicester at the King Power Stadium.

Liverpool have not won a game since their 4-0 thrashing of Arsenal back in August. The Reds lost 5-0 to Manchester City in the Premier League before being held to draws by Sevilla and Burnley.

The Merseyside outfit then conceded their 15th and 16th goals of the season as they were knocked out of the League Cup by Leicester on Tuesday night.

Liverpool have earned plenty of praise for their free-flowing attacking football this season but their lack of solidity in defence will be a concern for Klopp.

And the Liverpool manager has admitted that he is “sick” of the way his team have been conceding goals in recent weeks.

Klopp told a news conference after his side’s loss to Leicester: “It’s actually easy to explain, we played good football in the first-half and missed big chances.

“That’s football – it’s at least 90 minutes. The goals we conceded are a second ball from a corner and a throw in again.

“I’m sick of [conceding] goals like this to be honest, you cannot play football and do that. The Leicester team somehow survive in the game as we aren’t clinical enough.

“That is OK, but then you need to stay concentrated. They scored too easy. With the first goal we don’t push up together… I’ve said it 1,000 times.”

The Liverpool manager will now look to rally his troops as he prepares them for their Premier League trip to Leicester on Saturday evening, as they look to return to winning ways.

Liverpool finished fourth in the Premier League last season to secure a return to the Champions League.
