Martin Keown delivers verdict on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s move to Liverpool
The Arsenal legend believes Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will compete for a spot in the Liverpool FC midfield

Martin Keown believes Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will compete with Georginio Wijnaldum for a place in the Liverpool side.
The Reds completed a deal to sign the England international in a £40m deal from title rivals Arsenal on Thursday’s transfer deadline day.
Liverpool managed to beat Premier League champions Chelsea to the signature of Oxlade-Chamberlain in what represent a coup for the midfielder.
The Merseyside outfit made the 24-year-old their fourth signing of the summer to improve their options ahead of the Champions League group stage.
Oxlade-Chamberlain played at wing-back in his last Premier League game in an Arsenal shirt at Anfield as his new club were 4-0 winners against Arsene Wenger’s men.
However, the England international is thought to be keen to play in more of a midfield role but will face competition from Emre Can, Jordan Henderson and Wijnaldum.
Former Arsenal defender Keown believes Oxlade-Chamberlain will battle with Netherlands international Wijnaldum for a starting spot.
“I’d be very interested to hear his own reasons for wanting to leave,” Keown told the http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-4839970/How-Arsenal-sort-mess-TACKLE-KEOWN.html#ixzz4rNDCjKwQ Daily Mail.
“I don’t think he has really fulfilled his potential at Arsenal… and if he thinks central midfield is his best position then he has some work to do.
“I do think he could be one of the midfield three at Liverpool, where he could play instead of Georginio Wijnaldum.”
Liverpool have also signed AS Roma winger Mohamed Salah, Chelsea teenager Dominic Solanke and Hull City defender Andy Robertson.
The Reds have also agreed a club-record £48m deal to sign Naby Keita from RB Leipzig next summer.
