The Senegal international retained his place in Jurgen Klopp’s side for the visit of the Spanish club after the winger was sent off in the first half of their 5-0 loss to Manchester City in the Premier League last weekend.
And Mane’s confidence didn’t appear to be dented after the African forward terrorised the Sevilla defence with his pace and trickery throughout the Champions League group-stage clash at Anfield.
The 24-year-old won Liverpool a first-half penalty after he was brought down in the box following goals from Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah but the Brazil forward missed his spot-kick.
Mane was replaced in the second half for Daniel Sturridge as Liverpool looked for a winner after Joaquin Correa equalised in 72nd minute of the second half at Anfield.
While Firmino and Salah were on the score sheet, former Liverpool defender Carragher singled out Mane for special praise for his performance in the 2-2 stalemate.
Carragher wrote on Twitter:
“Well deserved goal from Salah to put @LFC in the lead! Mane been outstanding what a player!!”
Liverpool finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last season after Mane scored 13 goals and made seven assists in 31 games.
The Senegalese forward netted four goals in Liverpool’s opening five games of the 2017-18 season but the Liverpool No19 will now serve a three-game ban for his sending off.
