Louis Saha: Why this player will score in Man United v Everton
The former Manchester United striker is backing Wayne Rooney to score at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon
Louis Saha is backing Wayne Rooney to score against his former club Manchester United when Everton make the trip to Old Trafford on Sunday.
The 31-year-old called time on his decorated Red Devils career during the summer transfer window to secure a return to his boyhood club Everton.
Rooney made an impressive start to his second spell at Goodison Park after the proven striker scored against Manchester City and Stoke City.
However, the retired England striker has since been dogged by an off-field controversy, while Everton have lost 3-0 in their last two games in the Premier League and the Europa League.
Rooney left Manchester United as the club’s record goal-scorer after surpassing Sir Bobby Charlton’s tally of 249 during his final season at Old Trafford.
Former Manchester United striker Saha, who played alongside Rooney at Old Trafford during his spell at the Theatre of Dreams, is confident the Everton striker will leave his mark at Old Trafford once again but this time in blue on Sunday.
“I think Rooney will find a way to score, I’m scared for United that he can find different ways,” Saha told BetStars.
“It will be interesting to see how United handle the pressure of not having as much possession and also having more pressure placed on their defence as they haven’t been challenged yet.”
Manchester United warmed up for the visit of Everton with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Swiss outfit Basel in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
The Red Devils signed three players in the summer transfer window.
