Ian Wright believes Manchester United have become more ruthless under Jose Mourinho in the Premier League this season.

The Red Devils have made an impressive start to the 2017-18 campaign despite finishing in sixth place under Mourinho in the Portuguese coach’s first season in charge.

Indeed, Manchester United have scored 16 goals in five Premier League games so far to get 13 points on board and go toe-to-toe with derby rivals Manchester City.

The 20-time English champions eased to successive 4-0 victories over West Ham United and Swansea City before a 2-0 win against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.

Manchester United dropped points at the bet365 Stadium following a 2-2 draw with Stoke City before responding to the setback with a landslide 4-0 win against Everton.

The Red Devils scored less goals than Bournemouth in the Premier League last season as Manchester United registered a mere eight victories at Old Trafford in the 2016-17 campaign.

Former Arsenal striker Wright believes Manchester United look much more ruthless in the Premier League this season after scoring nine of their 16 goals in the final 10 minutes.

“Man United create a lot of chances,” Wright told BBC Radio 5 Live.

“Those were the kind of chances they were missing last season.

“They were drawing games like this last season. To win these games this season shows the is more of a ruthlessness about them.”

Manchester United signed Everton striker Romelu Lukaku, Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic and Benfica defender Victor Lindelof in the summer transfer window.
