Owen Hargreaves credits Jose Mourinho with improving Man United midfielder
The Manchester United legend praises Jose Mourinho for getting the best out of Maroaune Fellaini
Owen Hargreaves has credited Jose Mourinho with getting the best out of Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini.
The Belgium international has found his feet under the Portuguese coach after struggling under David Moyes and Louis van Gaal.
The Scottish manager signed Fellaini from his former club Everton in a 27m deal in the 2013 summer transfer window.
However, the towering midfielder was symbol of Moyes’ disastrous reign at Old Trafford which lasted less than 11 months.
Van Gaal used the Belgian sparingly during his two-year term and Fellaini was often a figure of ridicule under the Dutch coach.
But Mourinho has managed to incorporate Fellaini into his Manchester United team with great success.
The 28-year-old has become an important weapon to use against Manchester United’s title rivals in tight games.
And the controversial midfielder has even found his goal-scoring boots this term after finding the net against both Leicester City and Basel.
Former Manchester United midfielder Hargreaves has been impressed with how Mourinho has managed to find a role for Fellaini.
“Credit to Jose Mourinho. He has really got the best out of Fellaini. He’s really turned it around. He’s become something of a crowd favourite,” Haregeaves told BT Sport.
The Red Devils signed Victor Lindelof, Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic in the summer transfer window.
Manchester United won three of their opening four Premier League games to secure top spot in the table.
