Pat Nevin admits Manchester United are showing some of the traits that Sir Alex Ferguson’s great teams possessed.

The Red Devils finished in sixth place in the Premier League table last season despite Manchester United appointing Jose Mourinho as their new manager back in May 2016.

Mourinho signed Paul Pogba in a then world-record £89m deal as well as recruiting Eric Bailly, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The Manchester United boss did win the EFL Cup and importantly the Europa League to secure a place in the Champion League next term.

Mourinho has spent heavily on new signings again this summer following the additions of Romelu Lukaku, Victor Lindelof and Nemanja Matic.

Manchester United have eased to commanding victories over West Ham United and Swansea City in their opening two games before a 2-0 win against Leicester City.

The Red Devils have already netted five times in the final 10 minutes of their Premier League games to show their superior fitness and strength.

Former Chelsea winger Nevin believes the current Manchester United team is starting to look like the great Ferguson teams at Old Trafford.

“The most impressive thing is the last 10 mins of the game, they scored two against West Ham, three against Swansea and one against Leicester,” Nevin told BBC Sport.

“That’s what the great Manchester United teams used to always do.”
