Tim Sherwood predicts where Manchester United will finish in the Premier League table this season
Tim Sherwood is tipping Manchester United to pip Manchester City to the Premier League title this season.
The Red Devils have made a strong start to the new campaign in Jose Mourinho’s second season in charge, winning four of their opening five games.
However, Manchester City have also been in fine form this term, with Pep Guardiola’s men joint top of the table after also having picked up 13 points from their first five clashes.
Chelsea are not far behind the two Manchester clubs in the race for the title, but former Tottenham manager Sherwood reckons that it will be Manchester United who come out on top this season.
Asked who he thinks will win the title this season, Sherwood told Sky Sports: “United. Based on the manager.
“He’s a winner and he’s proven over here that he can win the Premier League.
“I love the way City play but I just think Jose will get it done and if they need to strengthen again in January they will give him the resources to be able to win the league.”
Manchester United have not won the Premier League title since Sir Alex Ferguson’s final season in charge for the Red Devils in the 2012-13 campaign.
The Red Devils finished in a disappointing sixth place in the Premier League table under Mourinho last season but made up for it by winning the Europa League and League Cup in his first campaign in charge.
Manchester United travel to Southampton in their next Premier League game on Saturday afternoon.
