Ander Herrera sends Champions League warning to Man United
Ander Herrera warns Manchester United that they will have to take things slowly in the Champions League this season

Ander Herrera has warned Manchester United that they will have to take it “step by step” in the Champions League this season.
The Red Devils missed out on a place in Europe’s elite club competition last term as they had to settle for Europa League football.
However, Jose Mourinho managed to guide Manchester United to Europa League glory as they booked their place in the group stage of the Champions League for this term.
Manchester United are set to make their return to the Champions League group stage on Tuesday night when they host Swiss side Basel at Old Trafford.
But Herrera has warned the Red Devils that they cannot expect to have instant success in Europe’s elite club competition this season.
Herrera told Manchester United’s website: “It is amazing to be back in it. Every game is amazing for Manchester United for me but the Champions League is the most beautiful competition apart from the Premier League.
“We should be in the Champions League. Even without the Champions League we are the club with more fans than anybody in the world and with the biggest amount of sponsors in the world. That is why the game against Ajax [to get back into the competition] was the game of our lives. It was certainly the game of my career.
“We want to fight for every title. Last season we won three which wasn’t bad but we did not fight for the Premier League and we were not in the Champions League so we have to be humble and take it step by step.”
The Red Devils dropped their first Premier League points of the season on Saturday when they were held to a 2-2 draw by Stoke City at the bet365 Stadium.
However, Mourinho’s men are still top of the table after having taken 10 points from their opening four Premier League games.
