Ander Herrera has admitted that he has been impressed by the start Romelu Lukaku has made at Manchester United this season.

The Belgian striker became the Red Devils’ second signing of the summer back in July as Jose Mourinho moved quickly to bolster his attacking options at Old Trafford.

Lukaku has made a solid start to life as a Manchester United player, scoring four goals in four Premier League games to help Mourinho’s side top the Premier League table.

The striker could be set to make his first ever Champions League appearance when the Red Devils take on Basel on Tuesday night at Old Trafford.

And Herrera has been very impressed by what he has seen from the Belgian striker so far this season following his arrival at Manchester United from Everton.

Speaking in an interview with Manchester United’s website, Herrera said: “Last season we won three titles because we had one of the top scorers like Zlatan. If you want to be a champion and win titles you need a guy like him and Romelu is doing fantastic for us.

“He is so hungry, he wants to win things, he wants to score goals and he wants to be important.

“It doesn’t matter that he hasn’t played Champions League before, he has scored goals and played in the best league in the world so he will score goals for us.

Manchester United drew 2-2 with Stoke City at the bet365 Stadium on Saturday night, with Lukaku finding the net once again for Mourinho’s men.

The Red Devils, who are top of the table after taking 10 points from their first four games, return to Premier League action next weekend with a home clash against Everton at Old Trafford.
