The 21-year-old has struggled to break into the first team at Manchester United in recent seasons despite having been at the Old Trafford club since the age of 16.
However, Mourinho clearly holds Pereira in high regard as the player signed a new contract with the Red Devils over the weekend to keep him at Manchester United until the summer of 2019, with the option to extend for another year.
Pereira will spend this season on loan to Spanish side Valencia as he looks to notch up some regular first team football.
But Mourinho is clearly convinced that Pereira will become a star of the future at Old Trafford.
Mourinho told Manchester United’s website: “Andreas is already a very good footballer.
“He is a young player with great natural ability and a good attitude towards continuing his development.
“I have no doubt that he has the potential to be one of the future great players of this club.”
Manchester United, who are top of the table, return to Premier League action on Saturday when they travel to the bet365 Stadium to take on Stoke City.
