Jermaine Jenas believes that Anthony Martial is in the form of his life at Manchester United at the moment.

The 21-year-old striker first burst onto the scene at Old Trafford under Louis van Gaal after he signed for the Red Devils from Monaco back in the summer of 2015.

However, his form appeared to tail off after having made a strong start to his career in the Premier League, before Jose Mourinho took charge at Old Trafford last summer.

Martial has been in fine form for the Red Devils so far this season and he was named as the man of the match as Manchester United thrashed Burton Albion 4-1 in the third round of the League Cup last week.

And former Tottenham midfielder Jenas has been extremely impressed by what he has seen from the Manchester United striker so far this season under Mourinho.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live on Thursday night, Jenas said: “I watched martial in midweek [against Burton]. I’ve not seen him play like that since he arrived at Manchester United.

“He looked phenomenal. He looked like the £50m prospect they bought from Monaco. His confidence was shot last year.”

Martial will be hoping to feature for Manchester United when the Red Devils return to Champions League action on Wednesday night with a trip to CSKA Moscow.

The Red Devils secured their return to Europe’s elite club competition by winning the Europa League in Mourinho’s first campaign last term.
