Jose Mourinho has earned praise from Dion Dublin for the way he has been handling Anthony Martial at Manchester United this season.

The French striker has been made to wait for his first-team opportunities by the Red Devils manager this term, with the forward having only started one Premier League game so far this season.

Nevertheless, Martial has been making a big impact off the bench and the 21-year-old has scored three goals and made one assist for his team-mates in the top flight so far this season.

He also started and scored for the Red Devils in the 4-1 win over Burton in the League Cup third round on Wednesday night at Old Trafford.

The forward will be hoping to play something of a more regular role for the Red Devils in the coming weeks and months as he bids to help Manchester United try and win the Premier League this season.

However, former defender Dublin believes that Mourinho has been handling Martial’s situation extremely well so far this season.

Dublin is quoted as saying by Metro: “I don’t know whether he’s going to force his way in or whether he’s going to continue to play that role. I think either way he will be effective.

“I don’t think he’s the kind of player that sulks. I think he’s the kind of player that gets on with things, so it’s down to Mr Mourinho.

“At the moment he’s got it spot on, so if Martial can stay strong, stay focused, and stay a team player, United will be a better team.”

Martial will be hoping to feature for Manchester United when the Red Devils return to Premier League action on Saturday with a trip to the south coast to take on Southampton.
