The Sun is reporting that Manchester United could have the option to sign Griezmann for a cut-price fee after the release clause of £183.14m inserted in his new Atletico Madrid contract expired on 31 August 2017.
That means that Griezmann could potentially be available for £91.5m this January as Jose Mourinho ponders bolstering his squad in the new year.
Griezmann was heavily linked with a possible move to Manchester United early on in the summer transfer window but the switch failed to materialise after the Spanish club’s transfer ban was upheld.
Atletico are barred from making any new signings until the January transfer window and Griezmann was thought not to want to leave the club under those circumstances.
The same report in the Sun says that Barcelona have also been showing an interest in Griezmann, meaning that Manchester United could make a mid-season move to try and bring him to Old Trafford.
Manchester United take on Stoke City at the bet365 Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday.
