Michael Owen has admitted that Manchester United look like a “well-oiled machine” under Jose Mourinho this season.

The Red Devils have made an impressive start to the new campaign under the Portuguese coach and look as if they will be one of the main contenders for the Premier League title this season.

Manchester United have been in top form this term and are currently in second place in the table, level on points with leaders Manchester City after six games.

Their strong start is in contrast to their struggles last season, when they ended up sixth in the table after failing to find consistent form in the Premier League.

Manchester United continued their good form with an impressive 4-1 victory away to CSKA Moscow in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

And former Red Devils striker Owen has been very impressed by what he has seen from Mourinho’s men so far this season.

Speaking on BT Sport on Wednesday night, Owen said: “I think he [Jose Mourinho] is very content at the moment.

“The start of the season couldn’t have gone much better. Undefeated and near the top of the Premier League. You can see a lot of progress.

“I had question marks last season. Now, I’m looking at them and thinking that they look like a well-oiled machine.”

Manchester United are aiming to win the Premier League title this season for the first time since their final triumph under Sir Alex Ferguson back in the 2012-13 campaign.

The Red Devils won both the Europa League and League Cup under Mourinho last term.
