Eric Bailly has claimed that Manchester United have made huge progress under Jose Mourinho this season.

The Ivory Coast defender has just begun his second season at Old Trafford after signing for the Red Devils from Villarreal last summer.

Manchester United enjoyed a fairly successful season under Mourinho last term as they won the Europa League, League Cup and Community Shield.

However, their form in the Premier League left a lot to be desired as they ended up sixth in the top flight table.

The Red Devils have made a much stronger start to the new Premier League season and defender Bailly believes that Manchester United have made significant improvements this season.

Speaking in an interview with Manchester United’s website, Bailly said: “I am happy because, this year, we can see a huge progression in the team compared with last season.

“Even though I don’t think we were bad last season – we were good – but, this year, there is more desire, more success at everything we do and, as I said, I hope that will continue.”

Manchester United return to Champions League action on Wednesday night with a trip to Russia to take on Spartak Moscow.

The Red Devils kicked off their Champions League campaign with a comprehensive 3-0 win over Basel at Old Trafford earlier this month.

Last season, they beat Ajax in Stockholm to win the Europa League final.

Manchester United have not won the Premier League title since Sir Alex Ferguson’s final campaign in charge at Old Trafford in the 2012-13 campaign.
