Gary Lineker took to social media to react to Manchester United’s 4-0 victory over Crystal Palace and admit he was relieved to see Romelu Lukaku find the net.
The Red Devils were once again in superb form and their dominant victory moved them to the top of the Premier League table ahead of the international break.
It remains to be seen whether the Red Devils will once again be knocked off top spot by Manchester City ahead of the Citizens’ clash with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening.
Juan Mata gave the Red Devils the lead in the third minute with a close range finish at Old Trafford, before Marouane Fellaini netted twice to make it3-0 and leave Jose Mourinho’s men in control.
Lukaku then continued his superb start to the new campaign when he netted in the 86th minute to notch up his 10th goal of the season for Mourinho’s men following his summer transfer from Everton.
And England Lineker took to Twitter after Lukaku completed the rout at Old Trafford, writing: “Just felt a huge sigh of relief on the back of my neck as Lukaku scores and fantasy football fans everywhere puff out their cheeks.”
Manchester United will return to Premier League action after the international break when they take on Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday 14 October.
The Red Devils are aiming to win the title this season for the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson’s final campaign in charge in 2012-13.
