Gary Neville believes Manchester United have improved both offensively and defensively under Jose Mourinho this season.

The Red Devils have collected 13 points from their opening five Premier League fixtures to move level on points with leaders Manchester City.

Manchester United were 4-0 winners against Everton in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Sunday to continue their excellent start to the 2017-18 season.

The Red Devils have scored 16 goals in their five Premier League outings, while Manchester United have kept four clean sheets.

The 20-time English champions finished in sixth place in the Premier League last season but Mourinho’s side already look like genuine title contenders this term.

Former Manchester United defender Neville is impressed with how the Red Devils are starting to shape up under Mourinho in his second full season in charge.

“Jose Mourinho has always been a good manager at home and he is happy to sit in and let teams expose themselves, and United’s record at Old Trafford is now no defeats in 12 months since City won there,” Neville told Sky Sports.

“To me they are looking a lot better than before in terms of breaking sides down and killing off games.”

Manchester United signed Benfica defender Victor Lindelof, Everton striker Romelu Lukaku and Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic in the summer transfer window.

The Red Devils have already scored four goals against West Ham, Swansea City and Everton in the Premier League this term with summer signing Lukaku netting in all three games.

Mourinho’s side will make the long trip to Southampton in their next Premier League game on Saturday afternoon.
