Gary Neville sends message to Man United fans about Jose Mourinho and signings
Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville heaps praise on Jose Mourinho for a positive summer transfer window
Gary Neville has paid credit to Jose Mourinho for his role in helping Manchester United to have a positive summer transfer window.
The Red Devils finished in sixth place in the Premier League table last season to miss out on a place in the Champions League.
But Manchester United still managed to qualify for Europe’s premier club competition thanks to winning the Europa League in Stockholm.
Mourinho signed Benfica defender Victor Lindelof, Everton striker Romelu Lukaku and Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic in the summer transfer window.
Manchester United have already eased to three successive Premier League victories thanks to wins against West Ham, Swansea City and Leicester City.
The Red Devils are sitting at the top of the table and two points clear of their closest challengers Liverpool.
Former Manchester United defender Neville praised Mourinho for completing some good transfer business this summer.
“I’m a lot happier from a United point of view as a fan that the club seems to be back on track and Jose’s had a big part to play in that because he does do well in the transfer market,” Neville told Sky Sports News on Friday morning.
“He does do well in the transfer market, he did well at Chelsea as well. Even the shifting out of Depay and Schneiderlin last January for £45m was business that United haven’t done in the past.”
Manchester United will make the trip to Stoke City in their next Premier League game at the bet365 Stadium on Saturday 9 September.
The Potters have already beaten Arsenal at their home stadium this season thanks to Jese Rodriguez’s second-half winner.
The Red Devils will be hoping to win their first Premier League title since 2013 this term.
