Robbie Savage predicts where Man United, Man City will finish this season
The former Leicester City midfielder is backing Manchester United to win the title despite Manchester City's outstanding form
Robbie Savage is still backing Manchester United to win the Premier League title this season.
Manchester City were resounding 6-0 winners against Watford at Vicarage Road last weekend to lay down a marker in the title race ahead of Manchester United’s home clash with Everton.
The Red Devils moved back level with Manchester City at the top of Premier League table thanks to a 4-0 victory over Everton at Old Trafford ahead of this weekend’s six round of top-flight fixtures.
Manchester United eased to a comfortable win courtesy of goals from Romelu Lukaku, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Anthony Martial and Antonio Valencia.
Pep Guardiola’s side continued their impressive form with a 5-0 win against Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace side on Saturday to improve their goal difference.
Manchester United couldn’t keep up with the free-scoring derby rivals, although the Red Devils still managed to battle to a 1-0 win at Southampton thanks to Romelu Lukaku’s first-half winner at St Mary’s.
The Citizens have now scored 21 goals in their opening six Premier League games, while Guardiola’s men have conceded just twice despite concerns about their defence.
Manchester City and Manchester United both have 16 points after six games to add more fuel to what promises to be an entertaining title race this season.
The Citizens haven’t won the Premier League title since beating Liverpool to the title in 2014, while Manchester United haven’t lifted the top-flight crown since Sir Alex Ferguson’s final season in 2013.
Former Leicester City midfielder Savage believes Jose Mourinho’s side still have a slight edge but expects the title to go to one of the Manchester clubs.
“I’m going to stick with Manchester United,” Savage told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“I think it’s between Manchester City and Manchester United.”
