Alan Shearer: Man United signing and Harry Kane can break my record
Alan Shearer believes both Man United striker Romelu Lukaku and Tottenham star Harry Kane can break the legend's Premier League record

Alan Shearer believes both Manchester United signing Romelu Lukaku and Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane are capable of breaking his Premier League goal record.
The England international scored twice in Tottenham’s 3-2 win against derby rivals West Ham United in the Premier League in Saturday’s early kick-off at the London Stadium.
Kane has now scored four goals in the English top flight in September after failing to find the net in the north London side’s opening three games of the 2017-18 season.
However, the 2016-17 Premier League leading goal-scorer is still two goals shy of Lukaku’s haul for the current campaign.
The £75m signing scored Manchester United’s 20th-minute winner in a 1-0 victory over Soutampton at St Mary’s on Saturday afternoon.
Lukaku has scored six times in six Premier League games to justify his transfer fee following a summer move to Old Trafford from Everton.
Shearer scored 260 goals in the Premier League for both Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United in his career.
Former Magpies striker Shearer believes both Lukaku and Kane are capable of surpassing his record before the end of their Premier League careers.
“I do not rule out Romelu Lukaku having a good go at reaching my total either,” Shearer told The Sun.
“At the same age as Kane he has nine more Premier League goals but has played 70 games more. At a club like Manchester United he is going to get chances every game to add to that.
“What a start he has had to his career at Old Trafford with six already from as many League games.
“He has given the club what they have been lacking in recent years, which is a striker at the very top of his game.”
Manchester United also signed Benfica defender Victor Lindelof and Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic in the summer transfer window.
