Thierry Henry has praised Romelu Lukaku for becoming less selfish since moving to Manchester United.

The Belgium striker completed a £75m move to the Red Devils from Everton in the summer transfer window after Lukaku turned down the chance to secure a return to Chelsea.

Lukaku scored 25 times in 36 games last season to finish as the Premier League’s second-highest goal-scorer behind Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane.

The 24-year-old netted five times in his opening five top-flight games to help Manchester United keep pace with their city and title rivals Manchester City.

Lukaku got on the score sheet in a 4-0 win against his former club Everton but the Belgian forward teed up Henrikh Mkhitaryan moments before his effort.

Former Arsenal striker Henry was impressed with Lukaku’s team play to help Manchester United score a vital second goal against Everton.

“What Lukaku is starting to understand is Man United needed to score,” Henry told Sky Sports.

“The team needed to score. It doesn’t have to be you, the team needed to score.

“Once you go 2-0 up, go for your goal. It’s something he is starting to understand.”

Lukaku moved to Everton from Chelsea in a £27m deal in 2014 after Jose Mourinho sanctioned the sale before re-signing the Belgian star this summer but as Manchester United boss.

The Red Devils signed Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic and Benfica defender Victor Lindelof.
