Roy Keane has backed Manchester United to win the Premier League title this season.

The Red Devils have made an impressive start to the 2017-18 campaign following a return of 16 points from their opening six games.

Manchester United have already scored 17 goals and have kept five clean sheets to underline their title ambitions.

Of course, Jose Mourinho’s side face stiff competition from Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side that occupy top spot in the division.

Defending champions Chelsea have bounced back from a shock 3-2 loss to Burnley at Stamford Bridge in their season opener with a five-game unbeaten run.

Manchester United will be hoping to register three points against Crystal Palace this weekend before their title rivals Chelsea and Manchester City face off at Stamford Bridge.

Mourinho has been tasked with leading the Red Devils to their first Premier League crown since Sir Alex Ferguson stepped down as manager in 2013.

Former Manchester United captain Keane, who has been an outspoken critic of this old club in recent years, has backed the Red Devils to win the Premier League title this term.

“United are back. They look like they will compete to win the big trophies,” Keane told ITV Sport on Wednesday night.

“Over the last few years, you are thinking they might win a League Cup and the lesser trophies.

“But they are back competing and you expect them to be in the latter stages of the Champions League and winning the Premier League.”

Keane won five Premier League titles during his decorated Manchester United career.

The Red Devils have won the English top flight crown 20 times during their illustrious history.
