Alan Shearer sends message to Man United fans about proven striker
The Newcastle legend welcomes Manchester United's decision to re-sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic this summer

Alan Shearer has backed Manchester United’s decision to re-sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The former Sweden international put pen to paper on a one-year contract with the Red Devils having been released following the expiration of his deal back in June.
Ibrahimovic proved a big hit during his first season at Manchester United following a free transfer from Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain back in the 2016 summer transfer window.
The 35-year-old scored 28 times in all competitions to finish the 2016-17 campaign as Manchester United’s leading goal-scorer despite his lack of experience in the Premier League.
Ibrahimovic scored twice in Manchester United’s 3-2 victory over Southampton in the EFL Cup final at Wembley and netted some important goals in the Europa League.
Former Newcastle United striker Shearer backed Manchester United’s decision to re-sign Ibrahimovic given his wealth of experience and proven goal record.
“I think it’s a very good move,” Shearer told BBC Sport.
“If he’s going to be as fit as he was last season, to have in and around the youngsters coming through, I think it’s a very good move.”
Manchester United have made an impressive start to the new Premier League season, including 4-0 victories over West Ham and Swansea City.
New signing Romelu Lukaku has already scored three goals in his first three games as a Manchester United player.
