Romelu Lukaku has revealed that one of the major reasons behind his transfer to Manchester United this summer was the chance to play under Jose Mourinho.
The Belgian striker completed a transfer to the Red Devils from Everton back in July despite having been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea before that.
Many had expected the 24-year-old forward to move back to his former club Chelsea and work under Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge.
But the forward instead opted to move to Old Trafford, and the striker has now revealed that it was a lifelong ambition of his to play under Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho.
Speaking on the Premier League Show, Lukaku said: “I wanted to play for him since I was 11, when you get another chance you don’t say no. I’m grateful for second opportunity.
“He’s always been the same, a man who wants the best from his players every day. He doesn’t give us a rest on the pitch, he wants us to fight in training and on the pitch and that’s what I like about him.
“Off the pitch he’s a family man, someone who’ll listen to you. That’s what I like about him.”
Lukaku has made a flying start to life at Old Trafford, having scored three Premier League goals in his opening three games this season.
The striker will be expecting to start for the Red Devils when they take on Stoke City at the bet365 Stadium on Saturday night.
