Nemanja Matic reveals that he is a huge admirer of Manchester United legend Roy Keane
Nemanja Matic has revealed that Roy Keane was one of the players he looked up to as a youngster following his transfer to Manchester United.
Matic signed for the Red Devils last month after Chelsea agreed to let the Serbia international leave Stamford Bridge and join their Premier League rivals.
The midfielder has slotted straight into the first team at Old Trafford and has helped the Red Devils win all three of their opening Premier League games.
Now, Matic has revealed that he was a keen admirer of former Manchester United captain Keane.
Matic is quoted as saying by Sky Sports: “Everybody knows that Roy Keane is a legend of Manchester United – he was a very important player for a long time.
“When I was young and started to follow football, he was at his best at Manchester and was one of the best midfielders in the league.
“I tried to take something from lots of players to improve myself and of course Roy Keane was one of those players.
“He’s a legend in Manchester and I’ll be happy to see him and have a chat. I’m happy that I play at the same club that he played.”
Matic will be hoping to feature for Manchester United when the Red Devils return to Premier League action on Saturday evening with a trip to Stoke City.
The Red Devils have secured wins over West Ham, Swansea and Leicester in their opening three games, scoring 10 goals without reply in the process.
