Frank Lampard is backing Romelu Lukaku to be a big success at Manchester United following his transfer to Old Trafford in the summer.

The Belgium international joined the Red Devils from Everton back in July despite having also been heavily linked with a possible return to Chelsea.

Lukaku has made a very strong start to life in a Manchester United shirt after having found himself in the starting line-up in all of his side’s Premier League games so far.

The forward has netted four times in the Premier League in four games, and also opened his Champions League account when he netted during the 3-0 win over Basel at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.

Lampard played and trained alongside Lukaku during the pair’s time together at Chelsea.

And the former Blues midfielder believes that Lukaku has all of the ingredients necessary to be a big success at Manchester United this season and beyond.

Lampard said on BT Sport on Tuesday night: “There are a lot of eyes on him but I think he will score goals.

“Can he score enough goals from the chances that are going to be made for him?

“One of his real strengths, from knowing him, is his dedication. In training he’ll do extra shooting. He wants to be that man and I believe he can do that.”

Manchester United return to Premier League action on Sunday afternoon when they welcome Everton to Old Trafford.

The Red Devils are currently top of the Premier League table on goal difference after having taken 10 points from their opening four games.
