Rio Ferdinand has heaped praise on Romelu Lukaku following the striker’s impressive start to life at Manchester United.

The Belgian forward has been earning plenty of praise for his strong performances for the Red Devils since signing for Manchester United from Everton back in July.

Lukaku has been a regular starter in the Manchester United team this season and he has scored six goals in six Premier League games for the Red Devils.

The striker made the difference once again on Saturday when he hit the all-important winner in Manchester United’s 1-0 victory over Southampton in the Premier League.

Former Manchester United defender Ferdinand has been very impressed by what he has seen from Lukaku so far this season and feels that he is helping the Red Devils to win games where they would have otherwise dropped points.

Speaking on BT Sport’s Premier League Tonight show, Ferdinand said: “These are the games [Southampton] you want to see him scoring in, the tight, nail-biting 1-0ers.

“They’re important games and important goals. Last season, United would have dropped points here, 100 per cent. They had eight 0-0s last season.

“He is a big difference and he has the pace, the strength, the power and the goals.

“With Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial coming into form, it’s a front three to be reckoned with.”

Lukaku will be hoping to feature for Manchester United when the Red Devils return to Champions League action on Wednesday night with a trip to Russia to take on CSKA Moscow.

The Red Devils kicked off their European campaign with a comfortable 3-0 win over Swiss side Basel at Old Trafford earlier this month.
