Ruud van Nistelrooy sends message to Man United fans about new signing
Ruud van Nistelrooy has been impressed by what he has seen from Romelu Lukaku so far at Manchester United
Ruud van Nistelrooy has admitted that he has been very impressed by the start Romelu Lukaku has made to life as a Manchester United player.
The Belgian international became the Red Devils’ second signing of the summer transfer window back in July as he followed Victor Lindelof to Old Trafford.
Lukaku had originally been linked with a move to Chelsea but the Red Devils managed to sign the 24-year-old striker from Everton as Jose Mourinho moved quickly to bolster his attacking options.
The striker has made a strong start to life at Old Trafford, scoring three goals in three Premier League games to help Mourinho’s men lead the way at the top of the table.
And former Manchester United star Van Nistelrooy was impressed by what he has seen from Lukaku so far.
Van Nistelrooy told Sky Sports News: “He’s done great.
“To score in your first games after you’ve been transferred for a lot of money, it’s great to get that pressure out of the way.
“He’s done well. Not only scoring but providing and making his runs. So it looks good for the season.”
Manchester United return to Premier League action this weekend with a tricky trip to the bet365 Stadium to take on Stoke City on Saturday evening.
The Red Devils are aiming to win the Premier League title for the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement back in 2013.
Manchester United will also make their return to the Champions League group stage this month after their Europa League triumph last season.
