Steven Gerrard has admitted that he has been impressed by Romelu Lukaku’s flying start to life at Manchester United.

The Belgian striker has been in sublime form for the Red Devils since joining Manchester United from Everton in the summer transfer window.

Lukaku has hit six goals in six Premier League outings for Jose Mourinho’s men and he hit the winner in the 1-0 victory over Southampton at St Mary’s in the top flight on Saturday.

The striker is showing himself to be more than capable of leading the line for Manchester United this season as they aim to try and win the Premier League title.

And former Liverpool star Gerrard has admitted that he he has been extremely impressed by what he has seen from Lukaku so far this season.

Speaking on BT Sport’s Premier League Tonight show on Saturday, Gerrard said: “I think he’s lifted everyone at United. Marcus Rashford, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Paul Pogba – I think he’s lifted them all.

“He’s certainly started his career at Manchester United on fire.”

Lukaku will be hoping to feature for Manchester United when the Red Devils return to Champions League action on Wednesday night with trip to Russia to take on CSKA Moscow.

The Red Devils, who won the Europa League under Mourinho last season, kicked off their European campaign with a 3-0 win over Swiss side Basel at Old Trafford earlier this month.
