Michael Owen states his prediction for Newcastle v Liverpool
The Liverpool legend is backing Jurgen Klopp's side to beat Newcastle United at St James' Park on Sunday afternoon

Michael Owen is backing Liverpool to return to winning ways when the Reds make the trip to Newcastle United in Sunday’s late kick-off.
Liverpool played out a five-goal thriller at the King Power Stadium last weekend as the Reds edged to a 3-2 victory over the 2016 champions thanks to goals from Mohamed Salah, Philippe Coutinho and Jordan Henderson.
However, Jurgen Klopp’s side were forced to settle for a point in the Champions League on Tuesday night despite a dominant performance in Russia following a 1-1 draw with Spartak Moscow.
Liverpool have only managed to win one of their last seven games in all competitions in what has been a difficult start to the season for Klopp and his Reds team.
However, former Liverpool striker Owen believes the Merseyside outfit should pick up three points when the Reds come up against their former manager Rafael Benitez and his Newcastle team at St James’ Park on Sunday afternoon.
“I have fond memories of St James’ Park and scored a hat-trick for Liverpool in the corresponding fixtures back in 1998,” Owen told BetVictor.
“The Reds saved bookmakers a fortune midweek but I expect Liverpool to bounce back when travelling to Newcastle on Sunday.”
Liverpool finished in fourth place in the Premier League table ahead of Arsenal and Manchester United.
However, the Red Devils spent wisely in the summer and are already five points ahead of Liverpool in the title race ahead of their meeting at Anfield on October 14.
