Paul Scholes: How Man United signing has improved Paul Pogba
Manchester United legend Paul Scholes believes Nemanja Matic has helped to improve Paul Pogba's performances at Old Trafford

Paul Scholes believes Manchester United signing Nemanja Matic has helped to bring the best out of Paul Pogba this season.
The Red Devils signed Matic in a £40m deal from defending Premier League champions Chelsea in the summer transfer window to improve their midfield options for the 2017-18 campaign.
Matic’s ability to protect the back four has freed up Pogba to play in a more advanced and attacking role in the Manchester United team in the 2017-18 season so far.
Pogba scored two goals and made two assists before the Manchester United record signing suffered a hamstring problem during a 3-0 victory over Basel in the Champions League earlier this month.
The Red Devils signed Pogba in a club-record £89m deal from Serie A giants Juventus in the 2016 summer transfer window.
Manchester United have made a brilliant start to the 2017-18 season following five victories and one stalemate in their opening six fixtures, while the Red Devils have scored 17 times and conceded twice.
Former Manchester United midfielder Scholes believes Matic has freed up Pogba to produce more influential performance in Mourinho’s team in the current campaign.
“Obviously before his injury you could see United were winning, and winning quite comfortably,” Scholes told the Daily Express.
“I think the addition of Matic has helped him and given him that bit of freedom – he’s scored a couple of goals already and a couple of assists.
“He’s playing well and hopefully his injury is not as serious as it could be. They have been talking possibly about an operation today but hopefully that’s not the case and he’ll be back soon.”
Manchester United signed Benfica defender Victor Lindelof and Everton striker Romelu Lukaku in the summer transfer window.
