Phil Jones singled out Romelu Lukaku for special praise after the Manchester Untied striker scored a winner at Southampton on Saturday afternoon.
The Belgium international moved to the Red Devils in a £75m deal from Premier League rivals Everton in the summer transfer window to improve their attacking options for the new season.
Lukaku had scored five times in five Premier League games ahead of their long trip to Southampton for their sixth top-flight fixture at St Mary’s on Saturday afternoon.
And the 24-year-old netted his sixth Premier League goal of the current campaign after summer signing Lukaku netted a 20th-minute winner on the south coast.
Lukaku’s effort helped Manchester United to maintain their unbeaten start to the Premier League campaign to keep pressure on current leaders Manchester City.
Manchester United defender Jones heaped praise on Lukaku for taking his chance at St Mary’s.
“Romelu Lukaku needs one chance and sticks it in the net and we are thankful to have him,” Jones told BBC Sport.
Lukaku is on course to surpass his 25 goals that he scored in 36 appearances during his final season at Everton.
The Belgian forward moved to the Toffees in a £27m deal from Chelsea in the 2014 summer transfer window.
Manchester United also signed Benfica defender Victor Lindelof and Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic this summer.
